SEASON 2009 NEWS:

The Wynyard Football Club would like to welcome members, supporters and sponsor to the 2009
season and is looking forward to a more competitive year. We have retained the services of senior coach Nathan Hunt for season 2009 and appointed new Reserves coach, Phillip (Pip) Johnson & people are in place on and off the field to lift the club from the bottom half of the NTFL ladder.

The majority of the improvement expected this year is from the continued development of the young group which made up the core of the senior team last year and to compliment this improvement a number of returning and new players have been added to the ranks. So far, returning to Wynyard are Jye Gardam and Ben Dodd who last pulled on a Cats jumper in 2007, new to the club include Geoff Deverell, Rohan Baldock, Brennan Reeves, Tim Gee, Rhys Phillips, Kendal McCreadie, Jacob Plant, Ben Englund, Dayne Apati and Bryce Haneveer.

With the addition of several key position players Nathan Hunt will have more options through the spine of the ground to support the likes of club stalwarts Clinton Hutton & Daniel Franks as well as the younger breed led by the likes of James Dawson, Nick Hall and last year’s best and fairest winner Zack Smith.

With the splitting of the NTFL to allow some teams to enter the Statewide league for 2009 Wynyard have farewelled the services of players Zane Murphy, Braydon White, Nick Walters, Billy‐Jo Jackson & Mick McCullough to Burnie and Hamish Shaw to the Northern Bombers. The Wynyard football club wishes these players every success for their efforts in the Statewide league this year and will happily welcome them back if their plans change.

The Committee for the 2009 season is made up of Dale Hutton (President), Leigh Mackrell (Vice President), Karen Robertson (Vice President), Vicki Collins (Treasurer), Paul Plunkett (Secretary), Colin Robertson (NTFL rep.), Neville Woolley (Property Facilities), Phillip Grainger (Game Day co‐ ordinator), John Sadler (Sponsorship) & Daniel Summers (Coaches Liaison).  We would also like to welcome new club head trainer/physiotherapist Kyra Summers and 2009 IGA Ambassador Quest entrant Danae Leno.

A number of off field developments are underway at Wynyard with works underway to refurbish the gym underneath the old grandstand including a complete re‐supply of equipment and new flooring. Fans this year will once again be able to watch matches from the old grandstand which will also receive a facelift thanks to grant funding contributions from the Waratah Wynyard Council for new flashing and handrails and a new stairway access.

Trainings nights are currently Monday, Wednesday & Friday starting from 5:30pm at the Wynyard Football ground, all prospective players can contact Nathan Hunt on 0417 348 930 or are welcome to just turn up to training and meet the coaching team then.

To Book a Function at our Club phone  64422547 or Trudy Williams on 0419573128.
