The Wynyard Football Club is happy to welcome you to our website!

The town of Wynyard, which currently has a population of roughly 8½ thousand, nestles beneath the picturesque Table Cape at the mouth of the Inglis River in northwest Tasmania. Wynyard enjoys a vibrant town atmosphere, much of which is reflected in the support of the town's many sporting teams, including the Wynyard Football Club, also known as "the Cats".

The Wynyard Football Club has a long and proud history and has a reputation of playing the game with plenty of passion which has endeared it to the local community for many years.

Current News

The 2011 has been a very controversial season for the club;

  • With the goal post breaking
  • Daniel Franks breaking his arm
  • The very much talked about saga of 19 men on the ground
  • The clubs hopes of playing in the finals disappearing at the end of round 19

Our core group of players have committed for this year (2012) and believe in themselves and their club. The 2011 season has been a coming of age year for the Cats with players doing battle on the field week in, week out pushing their bodies to the limits and fearing no one. Shannon and the Committee believe that we will be premiership contenders in 2012. Nathan Hunt and Daniel Smith are Assistant Bench coaches too Shannon with Zac Smith Assistant playing Coach for 2012.
Anthony (Ant) Macmichael has been appointed coach for the Reserves assisted by Neville Broderick. Mark Handley and Chris Fielding will be coaching the U/19 team.

It has been stated that following our barnstorming finish to 2011 we have “Unfinished Business” within the NTFL and the teams are out to prove themselves as the pinnacle of the league with a hunger for a premiership.
 
“Wynyard Cats are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the NTFL 2012 season.”

Madison Hope: WFC entrant for the NTFL Ambassador Quest for the season was announced the winner of the NTFL Quest The club congratulated Madison at the WFC Annual dinner, also the Ambassador committee for a great year.
